“Budget” deck: TP Affinity 2K10

I’ve always focused on gathering cards to play combo decks. My only problem is that I like to play with “pimp” cards only. That makes my playable card pool much smaller than average.

Few months ago, I thought it would be a good idea to build up another Legacy deck. Something different! The chosen deck was the so-called “budget” Affinity deck. Well, not so budget for me LOL.

The deck still needs some tunning, but so far is looking as intended xD

Gotta admit that those Perish Japanese Signed ain’t mine. My friend Arnau lend them to me so I could use them at this weekend’s GPT. I know they were originally from JACO and I hope they end up being mine.

Haha, my pimp cards are literally spread all over the globe, and mostly in Europe! Good looking deck. What do you think about the choice of Path to Exile over Swords to Plowshares? Is giving your opponent an extra land to accelerate better than a few life from a Tarmogoyf or something?

In today’s state of the format, and when it comes to aggro decks, I believe path is far superior than swords to plowshares.

Why I believe Path to exile is superior?

To answer this question you need to make a diference between the early and the mid/late game.

On the early game, Swords to plowshares is obviously superior. Killing a Noble Hierarch will give your oponent 0 extra lives and you’ll slow him down on his tempo.

But when thinking of the mid/late game, you realize that those extra life points you gave to your opponent by killing a 3/4 goyf, could make the difference. In mid/late game you don’t really care about giving your opponent an extra land. He’ll probably have plenty of resources already.

It’s very important for affinity to harras your opponent on the early game to be able to outcome your opponent army in the mid/late game. Giving extra lives doesn’t really help your strategy.
