I’m very glad to show you my latest Legacy deck: ANT Reloaded. This is the deck I’ll be, most likely, playing at Grand Prix Madrid. You can read about this deck in my previous article: Is ANT the best combo deck to play at GP Madrid?

Finally, after months of inactivity, I decided that this was a good time to return.

First of all I’d like to apologize to those who can’t read English. I know that the Team Pataners blog used to rule in Spanish, but, right now I got the feeling that I should write in English. The Spanish blog-sphere is somehow limited to some thousands of readers while, writing in English would allow me to reach some hundred thousands. If you are Spanish but can’t read English, feel free to use the Google language tools to translate the contents. Maybe in the near future I’ll write in both languages if I enjoy of enough time, meanwhile, English it is.

You might have noticed some changes in the aspect of the blog. Yes, I’m testing and working my ass off in this new template to make it more modern, cool-looking and accessible to all its content. I’d love to hear any kind of feedback about things that could be improved.

One of the things that bugged me most from the past were the annoying spamm comments generated by bots that managed to avoid the filters. As there is no way to delete only the spamm messages that were already aproved, I decided to delete absolutely all the comments from all the entries. I know this is a huge loss of many interesting comments, discussions, debates, etc… but, I think that is definetly worth doing it as I’d like to start from scratch.

The blog template offers me the possibility of adding featured content and other stuff that you’ll be discovering in the near future. I’m pretty influenced by some of the blogs/webs I read daily: Lifehacker, ALT1040, Gizmodo, etc… You don’t need to be Sherlock Holmes to find out some similarities between those blogs and this one. I’ll be trying out different types of publicity. The time will tell which ones are working well and which ones need to be improved. To start with, I’ve implemented a box with a series of eBay listings. In there, by clicking on the different categories the box will show a list of items from the chosen category. This box works similar to the banners I had in the past but it takes less room. Maybe in the future I’ll implement some of those banners too. The idea is to make it easier for the reader to fins those cards that he/she is interested on. Right now I don’t have any publicity agreement with any shop/web/artist, but I hope to be able to reach some agreements like the ones I had in the past with: ABU Games, Magic Card Market, Evolution Store, Rebellion, Ken Meyer Jr., etc…

Another aspect that I’d like to put some emphasis on is the pace and rhythm of the blog. I’m not forcing myself any rate of entries a day. Don’t expect to have new contents everyday. I won’t. This doesn’t mean that if I’m inspired and I feel like writing, you could see 1, 2, 3 or even more entries in a day. But, as I said, this will depend on how much spare time I feel like spending a day. Maybe I’ll spend a week without posting, maybe not!

About the contents of the blog. I’m gonna use the same line of contents that were used in the past. Obviously I’m gonna change some stuff. Probably I’m not gonna announce tournaments (maybe I’ll add some calendar), but I’m gonna keep writing reports. You’ll never miss the “pimp” stuff like my decks (or others), new cards, new alterations on the net, etc… You may ask me if I’m gonna put some “sauce” (LOL at literally translating “salsa” into English) while writing my articles/reports, and the answer is: YES. There’s gonna be plenty of salsa in this new era of the Team Pataners, I promise!

In the past I’ve often enjoyed the help from other team mates or collaborators to fill the blog with articles, fun entries, pictures, etc… I could never thank them enough for what they did for the blog. Now, I’m alone in front of the blog (again) but I’m opened for future collaborations. I’m working on the blog-roll, so if you wanna appear on it, please contact me and I’ll add your link to it. If you have a blog too, please add me to your blog as well. My idea is to make the official return during the 1st or 2nd week of January. On my next post I’ll elaborate a bit more on some other aspects that I might have left unexplained here. So…

Para quienes no conozcan RSP, decir que es la meca de la salsa magiquera (con nuestro permiso, obv xD), propiedad de unos sureños (.AND) y altamente recomendable para estar al día de todos los líos que suceden en el mundillo. Siento muchísimo el pequeño parón en el blog. Desde aquí os quiero pedir disculpas por haberos abandonado unos días. El motivo principal ha sido (y es) que últimamente estoy SUPER liado.

Antes gozaba de unas cosas que hoy en día uno ya no puede permitirse. Antes trabajaba en un despacho a pocos minutos de mi casa, sentadito delante de un ordenador, tirando mis líneas, dibujando, etc… Ahora, que el sector del ladrillo está mal (por no decil FATAL), encontrar trabajo de lo que a uno le gusta está verdaderamente jodido. Como uno no puede vivir eternamente del paro, me he puesto a trabajar de camarero en una cafetería/restaurante de Terrassa (ciudad a 40mins de donde yo vivo) y así intentar aprender el oficio de la hostelería mientrastanto.

Realmente no es lo mismo currar delante de un ordenador, donde podía actualizar el blog de vez en cuando desde el curro (no vamos a negar que un poco slacker si que soy xD), que currar todo el día en una cafetería/restaurante sirviendo platos, bebidas, y corriendo para arriba y para abajo. Evidentemente, en mi nuevo curro poco puedo actualizar.

Tambien os he de decir que esta situación es temporal, ya que estoy trabajando en un proyecto personal que espero poderos anunciar bien pronto. Agradezco la paciencia que tenéis y el apoyo que me brindáis para seguir escribiendo  y actualizando. Como en todo en esta vida, hay momentos más placenteros que otros, y por lo que se ve, ahora toca sufrir y trabajar duro.

Muchos me habéis preguntado por qué he decidido venderme parte de mi colección. Bueno, la respuesta no tiene secreto. Tener varios miles de euros parados en los carpesanos cuando uno no está pasando por la mejor situación económica de su vida es un poco absurdo. Es triste deshacerse de cartas tan difíciles de encontrar pero es que no había otra opción. Me he quedado con una única baraja de Legacy (Nauseam/iPop Negation) y un par de Vintage (Gifts y Tezzeret). Por suerte, las ventas han ido muchísimo mejor de lo que me esperaba y ahora voy algo más suelto y tranquilo. Tal es así, que hasta me he permitido pillarme algunas pijadillas:

Además, y siguiendo en la línea de las pijadas y lo pimp, también os he de decir que le he hecho un lavado de cara completo a la web www.mtg-pimp.com Creo que ahora es muchísmo más fácil de utilizar e implementa muchas más funciones, además de más cartas actualizadas de manera diaria.

La verdad es que MTG-Pimp es un proyecto que me parece super interesante y al que me gustaría dedicarle más tiempo del que dispongo para convertirlo en una herramienta verdaderamente útil para toda la comunidad.

Lo dicho, espero poder seguir actualizando el blog del Team Pataners al menos una vez cada dos días. A ver si los demás miembros del team me hechan una mano con el tema y podemos mantener un ritmo adecuado de publicación.

Tal y como os prometí, aquí os dejo el análisis “play-by-play” de las 3 rondas que jugué el pasado Sábado en el torneo de Legacy de la tienda Black Lotus. Decir que, para intentar optimizar mis resultados, opté por jugar combo llevando una adaptación de mi iPop Negation. La lista que utilicé fue la siguiente:

La inclusión del Nauseam parecía obvia en este deck. El Nauseam es una manera alternativa de matar además de las 2 existentes: Guerra de Counters (con Duress y pactos de por medio) para generar storm + Tendrils, y la clásica (pero GYdependiente) de los 2 LED + Infernal Tutor.

La vida da muchas vueltas y puede hacer cambiar los hábitos a cualquiera. A partir del Lunes que viene por motivos profesionales me va a tocar trabajar durante una temporada de 18:00 a 22:00 de Lunes a Sábado. La crisis afecta a muchos y para un arquitecto es realmente un mal momento.

Este pequeño cambio de hábitos significa que me voy a tener que olvidar de poder terminar torneos los sábados durante este periodo. De todos modos, seguiré jugando 3-4 rondas los Sábados y luego dropearé para irme a currar.

Aprovecharé esta situación para empezar con una nueva manera de analizar los torneos. Visto que sólo voy a poder jugar unas pocas partidas, me he propuesto hacer unos análisis completos “play-by-play” de todas mis partidas. De esta manera os podréis hacer a la idea de las situaciones exactas de cada partida y de las reflexiones hechas ante cada toma de decisiones.

Por lo demás, el blog no se verá afectado por mi cambio profesional. Seguiré con el ritmo y contenidos con los que os tengo acostumbrados y, como siempre, intentaré mejorar día a día para que podáis disfrutar de lo mejor del Team Pataners.

Hoy se ha publicado la entrevista que César Fernández, aka Chapuzas, me ha hecho para el blog de La Universidad de las Artes Lúdicas (U.A.L.).

Aprovecho para felicitar a César por la inicitiva. Me parece realmente interesante poder leer sobre ilustres y no tan ilustres del mundillo del Magic en nuestro país. ¡Cada día una entrevista nueva! Así que pasaros cada día y echarle un vistazo a su blog.

Como ya os anunciaba Guillem, ayer gané el 7º torneo de la LCV4 (Cuarta Liga Catalana de Vintage) celebrado en Mataró en el que participaron 62 jugadores.

La historia empieza el Viernes, y como viene siendo costumbre siempre que quedamos para hacer testing en mi casa, vamos a cenar unas Rocky’s en la pizzería del barrio. “Oiga, póngame una con todo menos olivas negras” xD Al final, somos Guillem, Adrià (el sparring oficial del Team xD) y yo. Testeé la misma baraja que jugué en el I Open Vintage Team Pataners con el pequeño cambio de -2 Duress por Merchant Scroll y Misdirection. Al final la cosa no me gustó, y volví a la configuración de 2 Duress. Podéis encontrar un extenso Primer de la baraja, con explicaciones, anotaciones, etc… en el siguiente enlace: TP Gifts Tendrils.

Decir que de esa baraja, lo único que cambié fue:

Sábado por la mañana paso a recoger a Filippo y a Guillem y nos dirigimos hacia Mataró, aka “La Ciudad sin Ley”. Tras cruzarnos con un mercadillo que nos barraba el paso, finalmente conseguimos dar con el sitio y aparcamos. Desayunamos en un bar que parecía la peña del Madriz de Mataró (llena de pósters de Raul Selección), nos meten una buena puñalada por el desayuno, y a por ellos!

Nuestro compañero Jordi Amat, aka piZZero, ha ganado 2 a 0 a Miguel Ángel Diaz, aka Wette, en la final de la LCV4-VII celebrado hoy en Mataró. De premio: un Mox Ruby de Unlimited (y esta liga el team ya ha conseguido 3). George jugaba su TP Gifts Tendrils.
